Exercise Prescription & Management focuses on physical activity and exercise as a means to enhance a person's life-long development and well being.
It involves the design of exercise programme's tailored to the needs of a wide range of clients. Subject areas include: Physical Activity & Health, Sports Injuries, Sports Training, and Exercise for Prevention & Rehabilitation.
Physical Education is a broad academic discipline that encompasses study of the biological, professional and social aspects of physical activity.
This major is available for the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPhEd).

The School of Physical Education was founded in 1948, making it NZ's oldest academic institution in the area of Physical Education.
Now, more than 50 years on, we offer a range of leading-edge degree programmes which incorporate sport, leisure, education and exercise sciences studies.

Career opportunities
Graduates work in the health, sport, fitness and recreation industries as consultants or advisers.
Some graduates continue on to post-graduate study in specialist areas like Cardiac Rehabilitation or Exercise Rehabilitation.
Some teach in secondary schools, while others work in special education programmes, service organisations, government or local authorities.
