Applied Geology looks at how geological issues affect the lives of human beings.
It studies the effects of naturally-occurring geological hazards, such as landslides and volcanic eruptions, environmental problems from such areas as waste disposal and groundwater contamination, and looks at how to manage and access natural resources, such as petroleum and minerals.
This major is available for the Bachelor of Applied Science (BAppSc).

Did you know?
Geology puts the human race in planetary perspective within space and time.
As our awareness of human interactions with the environment increases, our need for better understanding of the way the earth works becomes more urgent.
The framework of geology is useful for thinking about solutions to problems of pollution and waste disposal, to major civil engineering problems such as encountered at dam sites, and to the effects of global change arising from human impact on the environment.
